This role is with VCU Health, in partnership with WayUp, to hire top talent. A $20,000 sign-on bonus is offered for offers accepted by June 30, 2025, with terms and conditions applying.

Job Description

Tier 1 Supplemental Staffing RNs support VCU Health System by floating across multiple units and areas, including inpatient, procedural, Periop, and other specialties, providing support 24/7. Reassignment may occur in 4-hour blocks and include opportunities to float to other VCUHS facilities.

The Clinical Nurse II demonstrates mastery of clinical skills, assisting in illness prevention, wellness maintenance, and patient comfort, recognizing changes in patient status, and providing age-specific care based on medical orders and multidisciplinary plans. It also involves safe medication administration and documentation.

The Clinical Nurse III shows advanced clinical knowledge, anticipates patient needs, provides leadership, and contributes to evidence-based practice and unit policies. Both roles require adherence to Virginia nursing regulations, a current RN license, and relevant experience.

Qualifications
  • Diploma, Associate Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (preferred for Clinical Nurse III with certification in specialty area)
  • Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible in a compact state
  • Minimum experience: 12-24 months for Clinical Nurse II; 3 years for Clinical Nurse III
Additional Requirements
  • Completion of 15-20 contact hours of Continuing Nursing Education annually
  • Practice within the scope of Virginia nursing regulations and ANA standards
  • Availability to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays
Physical and Other Requirements

Physical activities include lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, sitting, bending, walking, climbing, reaching, and exposure to infectious substances. Mental skills required include reasoning, problem-solving, communication, and emotional resilience.
