Veterans Canteen Service at the Madison VA Medical Center is hiring Food Service Workers for full-time and part-time roles. The team supports cafes and retail markets serving America's Heroes in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications include a valid REAL ID, ability to read instructions and perform basic math, and the capacity to stand, walk, and lift up to 40 pounds. Prior food service experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of workplace, equipment, and utensils per health standards.
• Properly stores food to maintain freshness and prevent spoilage.
• Prepares foods according to customer orders or supervisor instructions, following procedures.
• Will be exposed to hot and cold temperatures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

The Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) located at the Madison - WI - VA Medical Center is seeking full/part-time Food Service Workers who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and are committed to serving America's Heroes.

Qualifications

A current - valid REAL ID is required to work at Veterans Canteen Service. Ability to read instructions and perform basic math for food preparation. Requires constant standing - walking - and frequent bending. Must be able to lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the food service industry is preferred but not necessary. Excellent customer service skills

Duties

• Major Duties and Responsibilities: Prepares a variety of beverages - including but not limited to coffee - latte - cappuccino - and smoothies
• Prepares and assembles an assortment of food items - including but not limited to breakfast sandwiches - lunch sandwiches - wraps - pancakes - burritos - and many more
• Maintains cleanliness & sanitation of workplace - equipment - utensils in compliance with health & safety standards
• Properly stores food to maintain freshness and prevent spoilage
• Prepares a variety of foods according to customers' orders or supervisors' instructions - following approved procedures
• Will be exposed to varying temperatures - including hot and cold
• Performs other duties as assigned.
