Job summary

Jobot is a growing public accounting firm in the San Francisco Bay Area offering a Venture Capital Fund Audit practice. The Audit Manager will lead VC fund audit engagements from planning to report issuance with minimal oversight from Directors or Partners, developing strategies and staffing plans while ensuring quality and compliance.

We seek professionals with CPA license and 5–9 years of public accounting audit experience.

Qualifications

  • CPA license holder required.
  • 5–9 years of public accounting audit experience.
  • Experience serving venture capital, private equity, investment companies, or alternative investment fund clients.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, investment company accounting, audit methodology, and risk assessment.
  • Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and develop Associates and Seniors.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage venture capital fund audit engagements from pre-planning through report issuance and binder close, with minimal oversight.
  • Develop audit strategies, risk assessments, engagement plans, staffing plans, and timelines.
  • Review workpapers, financial statements, and related documentation for accuracy and compliance with professional standards.
  • Research and resolve technical matters including investment valuations, partner allocations, capital activity, distributions, and syndication costs.
  • Supervise multiple engagements and teams simultaneously, reallocating resources as needed.
  • Serve as a primary day-to-day client contact throughout the audit lifecycle.
  • Explain technical accounting and auditing matters to teams and clients.
  • Draft management letter comments and discuss findings with clients.
  • Support billing and collections for assigned clients.
  • Mentor, train, and supervise Associates and Seniors.
  • Promote the firm's mission and culture through actions and communication.

Salary: $140,000 - $185,000 per year

  • Current and active CPA license
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 to 9 years of public accounting audit experience
  • Experience serving venture capital, private equity, investment companies, or alternative investment fund clients
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, investment company accounting, audit methodology, and risk assessment
  • Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and develop Associates and Seniors
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engagements, deadlines, teams, and client relationships at once
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
