Job description

Suffolk Technologies is a leading venture capital platform investing in ConTech, PropTech, and InfraTech startups transforming the $12T built environment sector. Our team partners with visionary entrepreneurs, providing capital, strategic guidance, and deep industry expertise to accelerate growth and create lasting impact. Since 2019, we’ve supported over 50 high-growth startups in AI, automation, robotics, sustainability, smart buildings, and supply chain, creating tangible value across the construction and real estate industries. Leveraging the resources and expertise of Suffolk’s $6B tech-forward construction business and a network of industry-leading companies, we provide unparalleled access to validate, scale, and commercialize innovative solutions.

We are seeking a motivated, analytical, and entrepreneurial individual to join our investment team as a Venture Capital Associate. This role offers a unique opportunity to play a key role in deal sourcing, due diligence, investment execution, and portfolio support, while working closely with industry leaders, startup founders, and co-investors.

The Role

As a Venture Capital Associate, you will drive investment decisions and help shape the future of our portfolio. You will analyze new investment opportunities, conduct market research, and collaborate with entrepreneurs to build category-defining companies. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, a passion for startups, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities
Sourcing & Market Research
  • Identify and evaluate new investment opportunities, including meeting with startup founders and industry leaders.
  • Conduct in-depth market research to identify trends, emerging technologies, and investment opportunities.
  • Develop investment themes and theses to guide fund strategy and deployment.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders, including entrepreneurs, co-investors, and ecosystem partners.
Investment Due Diligence & Execution
  • Lead due diligence processes, including market sizing, competitive landscape analysis, financial modeling, and valuation.
  • Analyze company performance, unit economics, and business models to assess investment potential.
  • Work closely with internal and external experts to validate investment opportunities.
  • Prepare investment memos and present findings to the investment committee.
Portfolio Support & Value Creation
  • Support portfolio companies with strategic initiatives, including go-to-market strategies, business development, and fundraising.
  • Organize and leverage fund resources, industry networks, and mentors to accelerate portfolio growth.
  • Represent the fund at industry events, conferences, and startup demo days.
Qualifications
  • 2-4 years of experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, management consulting, corporate development, or product management in a high-growth technology company.
  • Undergraduate degree from a top-tier institution; MBA is preferred but not required.
  • Strong financial modeling, market research, and business strategy skills.
  • Deep interest in startups, technology, and venture investment with a demonstrated ability to navigate emerging sectors.
  • Excellent written, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, unstructured, and entrepreneurial environment.
  • Demonstrated experience or interest in construction, architecture, engineering, and real estate, or sustainability and climate tech is a plus.
Why Join Us?
  • Direct exposure to top-tier startups and investors.
  • Hands-on experience in sourcing, evaluating, and closing deals.
  • Opportunity to work alongside experienced investors and entrepreneurs.
  • A high-growth, dynamic environment with significant career development potential.
  • Deliver meaningful impact by driving technological innovation in an industry poised for transformation.
