Responsibilities
- Provides competent and proficient technical skills in STAT & routine vascular procedures, implementing standards and protocols.
- Documents complete and accurate patient histories and information on tech sheets.
- Recognizes and demonstrates deep vein thrombosis using established criteria for physician interpretation.
- Assesses arterial circulation using pulse doppler, duplex, imaging, and segmental blood pressures.
- Analyzes and demonstrates hemodynamics of carotid arteries and intracranial circulation, documenting per criteria and protocol.
- Identifies normal structures and pathologies of venous and arterial systems of the abdomen for physician review.
- Demonstrates pseudoaneurysms of the groin, correctly measuring and documenting with doppler according to criteria.
- Assesses and demonstrates hemodynamics of native arteries, grafts, and fistulas for dialysis.
- Maps veins on the patient’s leg for surgical harvesting, including tributaries and diameters.
- Operates imaging and monitoring equipment competently.
- Provides patient care tailored to procedural needs and patient comfort, under supervision.
- Performs scheduled exams and on-call STAT duties adhering to protocols.
- Acts as charge tech in the absence of the coordinator, managing assignments and patient satisfaction issues.
- Ensures patient safety, privacy, and comfort throughout procedures.
- Assists in vascular surgeries and penile duplex studies, preparing patients and documenting indices.
- Performs venous surveillance studies according to protocol and logs findings.
- Maintains organized, safe, and efficient work environment, recording procedures and reporting issues.
- Supports organizational change, reliability, teamwork, and patient satisfaction initiatives.
- Participates in QA and accreditation, attends inservice, and mentors new staff and students.
- Engages in professional growth, self-assessment, and skill enhancement.
Minimum Education/Experience
- At least 3 years of vascular experience or a graduate from an accredited vascular program with an associate’s degree.
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS), or must obtain RVT/RVS within 9 months of hire.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Basic anatomy & physiology knowledge.
- Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills.
- BLS certification.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
- Ability to lift 20-50 lbs, move portable equipment, and respond promptly to patients.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs without assistance; patient handling equipment used for heavier lifts.
