Description

Attention Vascular Technologists! (Certified) The Danbury Hospital is growing and looking to add a PRN to its team. Work 2 shifts per month alongside a passionate, well-respected team.

Summary

Perform non-invasive vascular studies with a high degree of accuracy and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Admits, observes, and discharges patients from the laboratory.
• Verifies physician's order on the chart or phone orders specifying procedure to be performed.
• Checks patient's ID and verbally confirms identification, if possible.
• Introduces self to the patient and explains procedures prior to each vascular study & answers patient's questions.
• Tests patients for peripheral arterial disease, carotid and vertebral, vasculogenic impotence, & venous disease.
• Notifies physician of preliminary results, especially if a severely abnormal study is obtained.
• Implements STAT orders within 15 minutes and routine orders within 24 hours.
• Attends continuing education programs and in-services on a timely basis.
• Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent.

Other Information

Required: Must become registered within 18 months from date of hire. Knowledge in anatomy, physiology, disease process, and instrumentation. Converts clinical findings into accurate preliminary results.

Minimum Experience: Six months.

Desired

Working Conditions: Manual skills/motor coordination & finger dexterity; some occupational risk; very heavy physical effort, may exert up to 50 lbs.; exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
