Job summary

The Division of Vascular Surgery at Albany Medical Center is seeking a full-time Vascular Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our busy and collaborative surgery team at the Downtown Campus in Albany, NY.

You will assess and manage vascular patients in the outpatient setting, perform clinic-based procedures, coordinate care, and support postoperative follow-up and wound care to ensure high-quality, patient-centered vascular care.

Qualifications

• License and active registration as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in New York State.
• Master's degree from an accredited NP program or completion of an accredited PA program
• Minimum of 1 year experience in vascular surgery, cardiology, wound care, or related field preferred
• DEA certification, National Board certification, ATLS and BLS certification
• Familiarity with electronic medical records; Epic experience a plus
• Collaborate across departments to ensure cohesive, patient-centered care
• HIPAA and patient confidentiality must be maintained

Responsibilities

• Assesses and manages vascular surgery patients in the outpatient setting, including new patient evaluations, tests, follow-up, and clinic procedures
• Provides wound care management for peripheral arterial/venous disease
• Supports continuity of care within a high-volume practice
• Coordinates care planning with the vascular team
• Supports telephone triage and outpatient vascular concerns
• Delivers post-procedure care following endovascular and open vascular procedures
• Manages postoperative follow-up and chronic vascular disease care
• Annual ultrasound-based evaluations and cross-sectional imaging
• Comprehensive outpatient wound assessment and care

Job description

The Division of Vascular Surgery at Albany Medical Center is seeking a full-time Vascular Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our busy and collaborative surgery team. This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary vascular team committed to high-quality, patient-centered care.

Position Highlights:

• Day shift with some hours flexibility

• Primary site: Downtown Campus- 43 New Scotland Ave, Albany NY 12208

Responsibilities:

• Assesses and manages vascular surgery patients in the outpatient setting, including conducting new patient evaluations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, managing postoperative follow-up, performing clinic-based procedures, and providing comprehensive wound care management for patients with peripheral arterial and venous disease

• Enhances patient access and continuity of care within a high-volume practice

• Provides comprehensive, culturally sensitive healthcare including assessment, diagnosis, prescribing, patient education, and referrals when appropriate

• Participates in collaborative care planning with the vascular team

• Supports telephone triage and call management for outpatient vascular concerns to ensure continuity of care

• Provides ongoing care following minimally invasive procedures, endovascular therapies, and open vascular reconstructions, ensuring safe, seamless outpatient recovery

• Manages postoperative follow-up and chronic vascular disease care

• Delivers comprehensive outpatient wound assessment and wound care

• Conducts annual evaluations utilizing ultrasound and cross-sectional imaging

Qualifications:

• License and active registration as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in New York State

• Master's Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program

• Minimum of 1 year experience in vascular surgery, cardiology, wound care, or other relevant experience preferred

• DEA certification

• National Board certification

• Advanced Trauma Life Support and Basic Life Support certification

• Familiarity working in electronic medical records. Epic experience a plus.

• Collaborate effectively across various departments to ensure cohesive, patient-centered care and a positive work environment

• Maintain HIPAA and patient confidentiality

• Newly licensed: $124,693
  3 years of experience: $131,621
  8 years of experience: $138,548
  12 years of experience: $145,475
