Albany Medical Center is seeking a full-time Vascular Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Division of Vascular Surgery. The role focuses on outpatient evaluation, wound care, and coordination with the vascular team in a high-volume academic center.

Qualifications

• Licensed NP or PA in New York with active registration.
• Master's degree for NP or PA from an accredited program.
• Minimum 1 year of vascular surgery/cardiology/wound care experience preferred.
• DEA certification and NB certification required.
• ATLS and BLS certifications.
• Familiar with electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage vascular surgery patients in outpatient settings, including new patient evaluations.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, manage postoperative follow-up and clinic-based procedures.
• Provide comprehensive wound care and patient education, with cross-sectional imaging as needed.
• Collaborate with the vascular team to plan care and ensure continuity.
• Support telephone triage and outpatient care coordination post-procedures.

Job description

The Division of Vascular Surgery at Albany Medical Center is seeking a full-time Vascular Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our busy and collaborative surgery team. This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary vascular team committed to high-quality, patient-centered care.

Position Highlights:

• Day shift with some hours flexibility

• Primary site: Downtown Campus- 43 New Scotland Ave, Albany NY 12208

Responsibilities:

• Assesses and manages vascular surgery patients in the outpatient setting, including conducting new patient evaluations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, managing postoperative follow-up, performing clinic-based procedures, and providing comprehensive wound care management for patients with peripheral arterial and venous disease

• Enhances patient access and continuity of care within a high-volume practice

• Provides comprehensive, culturally sensitive healthcare including assessment, diagnosis, prescribing, patient education, and referrals when appropriate

• Participates in collaborative care planning with the vascular team

• Supports telephone triage and call management for outpatient vascular concerns to ensure continuity of care

• Provides ongoing care following minimally invasive procedures, endovascular therapies, and open vascular reconstructions, ensuring safe, seamless outpatient recovery

• Manages postoperative follow-up and chronic vascular disease care

• Delivers comprehensive outpatient wound assessment and wound care

• Conducts annual evaluations utilizing ultrasound and cross-sectional imaging

Qualifications:

• License and active registration as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in New York State

• Master's Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program

• Minimum of 1 year experience in vascular surgery, cardiology, wound care, or other relevant experience preferred

• DEA certification

• National Board certification

• Advanced Trauma Life Support and Basic Life Support certification

• Familiarity working in electronic medical records. Epic experience a plus.

• Collaborate effectively across various departments to ensure cohesive, patient-centered care and a positive work environment

• Maintain HIPAA and patient confidentiality
