Albany Medical Center is seeking a full-time Vascular Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a busy, collaborative vascular team in Albany, NY. The role focuses on outpatient evaluation, tests, wound care, and postoperative follow-up while collaborating with multidisciplinary vascular colleagues.

The candidate should hold NY NP/PA licensure with a master’s degree and have 1 year of relevant vascular experience.

Qualifications

• New York NP or PA license active and in good standing.
• Master's degree from an accredited NP/PA program.
• Minimum 1 year vascular surgery, cardiology, or wound care experience preferred.
• DEA certification and National Board certification.
• ATLS and BLS certifications.
• Epic EMR experience a plus.
• Collaborative, patient-centered care across departments.
• Maintain HIPAA and patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage vascular surgery patients in outpatient settings, order tests, and follow-up.
• Perform clinic-based procedures and comprehensive wound care.
• Provide education, referrals, and care coordination with the vascular team.
• Support triage and call management for outpatient vascular concerns.
• Oversee postoperative follow-up and outpatient recovery after endovascular or open procedures.
• Conduct annual evaluations using ultrasound and cross-sectional imaging.

The Division of Vascular Surgery at Albany Medical Center is seeking a full-time Vascular Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our busy and collaborative surgery team. This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary vascular team committed to high-quality, patient-centered care.

Position Highlights:

• Day shift with some hours flexibility

• Primary site: Downtown Campus- 43 New Scotland Ave, Albany NY 12208

Responsibilities:

• Assesses and manages vascular surgery patients in the outpatient setting, including conducting new patient evaluations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, managing postoperative follow-up, performing clinic-based procedures, and providing comprehensive wound care management for patients with peripheral arterial and venous disease

• Enhances patient access and continuity of care within a high-volume practice

• Provides comprehensive, culturally sensitive healthcare including assessment, diagnosis, prescribing, patient education, and referrals when appropriate

• Participates in collaborative care planning with the vascular team

• Supports telephone triage and call management for outpatient vascular concerns to ensure continuity of care

• Provides ongoing care following minimally invasive procedures, endovascular therapies, and open vascular reconstructions, ensuring safe, seamless outpatient recovery

• Manages postoperative follow-up and chronic vascular disease care

• Delivers comprehensive outpatient wound assessment and wound care

• Conducts annual evaluations utilizing ultrasound and cross-sectional imaging

Qualifications:

• License and active registration as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in New York State

• Master's Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program

• Minimum of 1 year experience in vascular surgery, cardiology, wound care, or other relevant experience preferred

• DEA certification

• National Board certification

• Advanced Trauma Life Support and Basic Life Support certification

• Familiarity working in electronic medical records. Epic experience a plus.

• Collaborate effectively across various departments to ensure cohesive, patient-centered care and a positive work environment

• Maintain HIPAA and patient confidentiality
