Qualifications

• Active PA-C license and specialty certification (Acute Care or Surgical)
• Surgical or perioperative experience preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and decision‑making skills
• Excellent communication and patient education abilities
• Ability to work independently and respond to emergencies
• Car and driver’s license preferred; mileage, tolls and gas reimbursed

Responsibilities

• Pre-Operative Assessment: Review medical history, conduct physicals and order labs to evaluate surgical readiness.
• Patient Education: Explain procedures, risks, post‑op care and pain management.
• Informed Consent: Ensure understanding of procedures and proper documentation.
• Post‑Operative Care: Monitor recovery, manage pain and address complications.
• Medication Management: Prescribe and administer post‑op medications as needed.
• Discharge Planning: Provide instructions, schedule follow‑ups and address concerns.
• Team Collaboration: Coordinate care with surgeons, anesthesiologists and staff.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of assessments, care plans and progress.
• Quality Improvement: Participate in initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
