Vascular Sonographer

An opportunity has arisen to join our hardworking, friendly, and progressive non-obstetric team at Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, initiative-taking, well-organized sonographer capable of working autonomously to join our busy unit.

We are looking for a suitable candidate to primarily support the vascular service at KGH, with the ability to perform general ultrasound, which is preferable. The candidate should be SVT Accredited and competent in conducting clinical examinations, playing a key role in managing patients with vascular disease.

You will perform and independently report on a wide range of vascular ultrasound examinations, including upper and lower limb arterial and venous scans, carotid and aorta including EVAR scans, and arterio-venous fistulas.

You must be highly competent, eager to contribute towards efficient service delivery, and committed to excellent patient care.

You must hold a UK-recognized Pg. Diploma or Pg. Certificate in Medical Ultrasound or equivalent and be registered with HCPC or another recognized body.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be part of a team delivering high-quality diagnostic care, ensuring the right test at the right time.

You should be highly competent and motivated to contribute to efficient service delivery and excellent patient care.

It is essential to hold a UK-recognized Pg. Diploma or Pg. Certificate in Medical Ultrasound or equivalent, along with HCPC registration.

  • Always provide a commitment to the highest quality patient care and actively participate in programmes to develop excellent standards of care.
  • Be responsible for the strategic organization and provision of the Ultrasound service, working with management to advise and lead evidence-based practice changes.
  • Provide specialist advice related to ultrasound services.
  • Responsible for training and supervising all staff within the ultrasound unit.
  • Deputize for the Lead Sonographer when required.
  • Remain receptive to new ways of working to ensure departmental resilience and flexibility to changing service needs.
  • Stay informed about national changes in diagnostic service delivery.
  • Be open, positive, and flexible regarding implementing changes aligned with national priorities.
  • Maintain high standards of clinical governance through active participation in audits, peer reviews, and QA programmes.

  • BSc Radiography or equivalent

  • Complete documentation accurately and collate data for meetings
  • Postgraduate Qualification in MSK Ultrasound
