Job summary

Augusta University is seeking a Research Associate for the MCG-Vascular Biology Center to support lab operations, tissue and cell culture maintenance, and molecular workflows under PI supervision.

The role involves DNA/RNA/Protein extraction, real-time PCR, Western blots, and data analysis with Prism/GraphPad/SPSS. Experience with mouse models is preferred. Strong organization and ability to work with research animals are required.

Responsibilities

• LAB OPERATIONS: Organize and maintain research lab operations, including tissue and cell culture sample maintenance, molecular, biochemical and immunochemical inventories.
• EXPERIMENTS: Perform and assist PI in molecular and biochemical experiments including plasmid construction and expansion, and cell transfections. Manage DNA/RNA/Protein extraction, mice genotyping, quantitative real time PCR, western blots and immunostainings in lab.
• MOUSE COLONIES: Maintain and organize mouse colonies, mice genotyping, results analysis and report them to lab personnel.
• COLLECT & PROCESS: Process surgical samples collected during transplant surgeries. Dissect tissue free from fat. Freeze specimen for later molecular studies. Generate cell suspension for cell culture.
