Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System's St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson is seeking a Vascular Access RN for a night shift.

This role operates as part of a large, multidisciplinary team to provide advanced vascular access care, including peripheral and midline catheters, ultrasound-guided insertion, and CLABSI prevention. The RN must hold a Maryland-registered RN license and BLS, be able to work 3 (12-hour) shifts with rotating weekends and holidays, and maintain high standards of patient

Qualifications

• RN license in Maryland (RNs must be licensed in the state).
• BLS certification required at the time of hire.

• Insert peripheral IVs and midline catheters.
• Respond to emergencies and place intraosseous needle when needed.
• Treat vesicant extravasations.
• Maintain CLABSI-free environment.

Job Requirements

A Vascular Access nurse at St. Joseph Medical Center is an autonomous and integral part of the multi-disciplinary care team. As the largest Vascular Access Team in UMMS, this role offers a large scope of skills along with modeling best practices.

Responsibilities

• Insert and maintain devices such as peripheral IV catheters and midline catheters
• Respond as a member of the Emergency Response Team and place intraosseous needle when needed
• Treat vesicant extravasations
• Maintain a CLABSI free environment
• Assist with central venous catheter management
• Educate patients and staff on vascular access device best practices

Work Experience

• Strong knowledge of vascular anatomy and physiology
• Proficiency with ultrasound-guided IV insertion
• Familiarity with central line maintenance bundles and CLABSI prevention
• Excellent critical thinking skills
• Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills

Required

• This is a NIGHT shift position, 3 (12)'s, rotating 4th weekend, 1 summer holiday/ 1 winter holiday
• This job will not have ability to transfer to day shift (7 p to 7 a)
• Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Maryland
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
