Job summary

Oakland Schools seeks a dedicated athletics/activities coach to oversee the program, supervise practices and games, manage equipment, and coordinate travel. You will lead with clear communication to players, parents, officials and staff, and model professionalism.

CPR and First Aid certification are required; MHSAA CAP 1 or CAP 2 is preferred. The role requires adherence to School, District, League and MHSAA rules and a professional demeanor at all times.

Qualifications

• Evidence of organizational skills in the above sport, commensurate with the position.
• Ability to work with and motivate young people and adults.
• Available during the time requirements of the position.
• Certification in CPR and First Aid required.
• MHSAA CAP 1 or CAP 2 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directly responsible for all matters relative to the program including but not limited to, player personnel, practice sessions, care and maintenance of equipment and supervision of players during practice, games, travel and other team functions.
• Be knowledgeable of and consistently enforce School, District, League and MHSAA rules and policies
• Effectively communicate with players, officials, fellow coaches, parents, administrators and community members
• Ensure that the safety and welfare of the athletes is a top priority in the organization and implementation of practice and game situations
• Be responsive to instructions and directions of the district Athletic Director and other appropriate school administrators
• Present a professional image and provide a positive role model in terms of personal habits, language and conduct
