Job summary

Regina High School in Michigan seeks a Head Varsity Softball Coach to lead one of the most successful programs in the Catholic High School League and the Michigan High School Athletic Association.

Reporting to the Athletic Director, the coach will supervise varsity and sub-varsity teams, coordinate tryouts, practices, game plans, camps and off-season workouts, and mentor athletes in skill development and sportsmanship.

Qualifications

• Varsity level coaching experience preferred but not required.
• Strong understanding of softball technical aspects.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must complete Protecting God’s Children through the Archdiocese of Detroit, if not completed already.
• Must submit to new background check.
• Must have CPR certificate or obtain one.
• Develop an Emergency Action Plan with Regina Administration.
• Follow all MHSAA & CHSL coaching requirements (CAP courses).

Responsibilities

• Lead Regina Softball Program and sub-varsity teams.
• Oversee supervision and development of the softball program.
• In charge of assignments and duties of assistant coaches.
• Plan and implement team activities, tryouts, practices, game plans, summer camps and off-season workouts.
• Teach athletes safe and fundamental techniques of the sport.
• Maintain communication with athletes, parents, staff, and Regina Administration.
• Collaborate with Athletic Director on uniforms, equipment, scheduling and supplies.
• Oversee maintenance, safety and cleanliness of uniforms, equipment, supplies and the facility.
• Promote growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect and good sportsmanship.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Position Description:

Head Varsity Softball Coach

Reports directly to the Regina Athletic Director and has the responsibility for all athletes in the Regina Softball Program. The coach will be required to follow the procedures of the high school’s athletic program, as well as those of the Catholic High School League and the Michigan High School Athletic Association.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading one of the most successful softball programs in the Catholic High School League and the Michigan High School Athletic Association
• Has the full responsibility for the overall supervision and development of the softball program, including any sub-varsity teams
• In charge of assignments and duties of any assistant coaches
• Planning and implementing team activities, tryouts, practices, game plans, summer camps and off-season workouts
• Teaches student-athletes safe and fundamental techniques of the sport throughout the season
• Maintains sufficient communication with athletes, parents, asst. coaches, and Regina Administration
• Works in collaboration and cooperation with the Athletic Director recommending the purchase of uniforms, equipment, scheduling and supplies
• Helps oversee maintenance, safety and cleanliness of uniforms, equipment, supplies and the facility
• Promotes individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect and good sportsmanship throughout the program
• Performs other related duties as required

Qualifications and Requirements:
