Job summary

Montrose School in Medfield, MA is seeking a part-time Varsity Softball Head Coach from March 15 to May 19, 2027. The role involves directing practices 4 days a week starting at 3:30 PM, with longer days for game days, and no weekend commitments.

The coach will lead the program, coordinate with assistant/JV coaches and the Athletic Director, and ensure high standards of professionalism in line with the Montrose mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the Varsity softball team, including games and practices, and equipment management.
• Assess players' skills and provide guidance to improve.
• Instill values of respect, team spirit, passion, teamwork, and dedication.
• Improve skills, confidence, and commitment in athletes.
• Transport team to events using school vehicle when necessary.

Job description

An independent school for girls in grades 6-12, inspired by the teachings of the Catholic Church, Montrose School was founded in 1979 and is located in the welcoming community of Medfield, 17 miles southwest of Boston. Montrose School attracts a talented and growing student population from 50 towns and communities.

Montrose seeks a part-time Varsity Softball Head Coach from March 15 - May 19, 2027. The Head Coach will run practices 4 times per week starting at 3:30 PM that are approximately 1.5-2 hours in duration. Game days will require a greater time commitment, however, there are no weekend commitments.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Responsible for all aspects of the Varsity team, including both organizing and supervising games and practices as well as uniform and equipment management
• Assess players' skills, monitor players during competition and practice and provide guidance for players to improve
• Instill the values of respect, team spirit, passion, teamwork, and dedication
• Improve skills, confidence, and commitment in all athletes
• Transporting team to and from team events in school registered vehicle when necessary

Experience Requirements:

• Prior playing and coaching experience
• An understanding of the rules and regulations of the game
• Knowledge of effective skills and strategies that contribute to team growth and success

Education/Certification Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree
• CPR Certification (may complete upon hiring)
• Valid driver's license and ability to drive

It is expected that the Varsity Softball Head Coach will work in coordination with the Assistant Coach, JV Coaches, and Athletic Director to create a unified Softball Program. All activities and behaviors should meet appropriate professional standards and adhere to the philosophy and mission of Montrose School.
