The Croton-Harmon Union Free School District is seeking a Varsity Ski Assistant Coach to support the Varsity Ski Head Coach in leading and developing the skiing program. This role collaborates with student-athletes, families, administrators, and staff to maintain a safe, positive, and competitive environment during the winter season.

Requirements include a NYS teaching license and/or NYSED coaching certification, completion of required coaching certifications (First Aid/CPR/AED and concussion),

Competenze

• Valid New York State teaching license and/or NYSED coaching certification.
• Completion of all required NYSPHSAA, Section 1, New York State, and district coaching requirements, including First Aid, CPR, AED, and concussion certification.
• Prior ski coaching experience, competitive skiing experience, and/or demonstrated knowledge of skiing is preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of skiing fundamentals, including proper technique, turning, balance, speed control, course navigation, race preparation, and ski safety.
• Ability to work effectively with student-athletes, families, coaches, officials, and school personnel.
• Ability to supervise student-athletes in outdoor and mountain environments and reinforce established safety procedures.
• In addition to the above qualifications, all public school employees need mandated fingerprint clearance through NYSED.

• Assist with planning and conducting practices, conditioning sessions, skill development activities, and competitions.
• Teach and reinforce proper skiing techniques, including balance, turning, edging, speed control, and course navigation.
• Provide individualized instruction and feedback to support student-athlete skill development and competitive performance.
• Assist with race preparation, course familiarization, event organization, and competition-day responsibilities.
• Promote proper skiing etiquette, mountain awareness, equipment safety, and adherence to mountain rules and established safety procedures.
• Provide appropriate supervision of student-athletes during practices, competitions, transportation, and team activities.
• Maintain a safe, positive, inclusive, and sportsmanlike team environment.
• Communicate regularly with the Head Coach regarding student-athlete progress, attendance, injuries, and other concerns.
• Assist with equipment checks and reinforce the proper use and maintenance of skiing equipment.
• Monitor weather, mountain conditions, and other environmental factors in coordination with the Head Coach and mountain personnel.
• Follow all district policies and comply with applicable NYSPHSAA, Section 1, New York State, and competition regulations.
• Attend scheduled practices, races, coaches' meetings, and required athletic department activities.
• Participate in professional development and coaching clinics as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Athletic Director, or Principal.

Summary Description of Position:

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

The Varsity Ski Assistant Coach will assist the Head Coach with all aspects of the skiing program, including but not limited to:

• Assist with planning and conducting practices, conditioning sessions, skill development activities, and competitions.
• Teach and reinforce proper skiing techniques, including balance, turning, edging, speed control, and course navigation.
• Provide individualized instruction and feedback to support student-athlete skill development and competitive performance.
• Assist with race preparation, course familiarization, event organization, and competition-day responsibilities.

Salary:

$4,878/stipend (as outlined for the Winter 2026–27 Athletic Season in CTA Contract Appendix B1)
