Job description

Assistant High School Alpine Skiing Coach

Supervisor: Head High School Alpine Skiing Coach and Athletic Director

Estimated time commitment: 10-20 hours per week, depending on the part of the season (the official season is mid-November through the end of February)

Stipend Amount: Starts at $1,863/year; follows coaching salary schedule

Detailed description of duties/responsibilities:

  • Instruct in skiing skills and technique
  • Help set and take down gates for practice and races
  • Keep safety a priority in all activities
  • Supervise athletes on the mountain and give ski technique feedback
  • Supervise athletes at meets and on the bus traveling to and from those events
  • Available to work evenings and weekends and some weekday meets, and be willing to travel with the team to different locations for meets
  • Communicate clearly and positively with parents and athletes
  • Complete the coach certifications required by CHSAA and the school district

Special qualifications, if any:

  • Background and experience with ski racing and general ski instruction, preferred
  • Preferred familiarity with ski race operations and team management
  • Experience coaching, especially with high school athletes, preferred

  • Knowledge of and ability to perform duties in full compliance with all district, Board of Education, state and federal laws, methods, requirements, policies, procedures, and activities pertinent to the duties of this position
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to use independent judgment and demonstrate initiative to act without being asked
