Qualifications

• High school/club/collegiate coaching experience required.
• First Aid / CPR / AED certification that is current (or ability to obtain).
• Coaching certification/licensure as required by state athletic association.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and execute daily practices and conditioning programs for sprints, hurdles, distance, jumps, and throws.
• Teach technique and mental preparation while emphasizing safety and academics.
• Manage meet lineups, entries, and meet-day logistics; oversee assistant coaches.

We are seeking a dynamic, dedicated, and knowledgeable Head Varsity Track and Field Coach to lead our student-athletes into the upcoming outdoor season. The ideal candidate will foster a positive, competitive team culture focused on athletic achievement, personal growth, character development, and sportsmanship. This role oversees all aspects of the high school track and field program, including event training, athlete safety, meet management, and mentoring assistant coaching staff.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Program Leadership: Plan, organize, and execute daily practices and conditioning programs tailored to various event disciplines (sprints, hurdles, distance, jumps, and throws).
• Athlete Development: Teach fundamental and advanced techniques, event strategy, and mental preparation while emphasizing safety, injury prevention, and academic performance.
• Meet Operations & Strategy: Manage competition lineups, coordinate event entries, handle meet-day logistics, and direct assistant coaches.
• Culture & Sportsmanship: Establish clear expectations for conduct, promote strong sportsmanship, and build an inclusive, high-energy environment for all team members.
• Communication & Administration: Maintain open, professional communication with student-athletes, parents, school administration, and the Athletic Director. Oversee inventory, care, and maintenance of track equipment and uniforms.

Qualifications

• Experience: Prior coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level (Varsity head coaching experience preferred). Demonstrable technical expertise in track and field events.
• Certifications: First Aid / CPR / AED certification required (or ability to obtain prior to season start). Valid state coaching certification/licensure as required by state athletic association.
• Skills: Strong organizational skills, effective public speaking, conflict resolution, and the ability to motivate high school student-athletes.
• Requirements: Ability to pass a standard criminal background check and work flexible afternoon, evening, and weekend hours during the competition season.
