MIAA is seeking a dynamic Head Varsity Indoor Track and Field Coach to lead our student-athletes into the upcoming outdoor season, fostering a positive, competitive culture focused on achievement, personal growth, character, and sportsmanship.

The role oversees all aspects of the high school program, including event training, meet management, safety, and mentoring junior coaches, with a commitment to academic performance.

Qualifications

  • Experience coaching at high school level or above; varsity head coaching preferred.
  • First Aid / CPR / AED certification required or ability to obtain before season start.
  • Valid state coaching certification/licensure as required by state athletic association.
  • Strong organizational, public speaking, conflict resolution, and motivational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Program Leadership: Plan, organize, and execute daily practices and conditioning programs tailored to various event disciplines (sprints, hurdles, distance, jumps, and throws).
  • Athlete Development: Teach fundamental and advanced techniques, event strategy, and mental preparation while emphasizing safety, injury prevention, and academic performance.
  • Meet Operations & Strategy: Manage competition lineups, coordinate event entries, handle meet-day logistics, and direct assistant coaches.
  • Culture & Sportsmanship: Establish clear expectations for conduct, promote strong sportsmanship, and build an inclusive, high-energy environment for all team members.
  • Communication & Administration: Maintain open, professional communication with student-athletes, parents, school administration, and the Athletic Director. Oversee inventory, care, and maintenance of track equipment and uniforms.

We are seeking a dynamic, dedicated, and knowledgeable Head Varsity Indoor Track and Field Coach to lead our student-athletes into the upcoming outdoor season. The ideal candidate will foster a positive, competitive team culture focused on athletic achievement, personal growth, character development, and sportsmanship. This role oversees all aspects of the high school track and field program, including event training, athlete safety, meet management, and mentoring assistant coaching staff.

  • Program Leadership: Plan, organize, and execute daily practices and conditioning programs tailored to various event disciplines (sprints, hurdles, distance, jumps, and throws).
  • Athlete Development: Teach fundamental and advanced techniques, event strategy, and mental preparation while emphasizing safety, injury prevention, and academic performance.

  • Skills: Strong organizational skills, effective public speaking, conflict resolution, and the ability to motivate high school student-athletes.
  • Requirements: Ability to pass a standard criminal background check and work flexible afternoon, evening, and weekend hours during the competition season.
