Job summary

Kamehameha Schools seeks an Assistant Coach for Varsity Golf to support the athletics program at Kapalama Campus, Honolulu. The role includes coaching, instructing students, and aiding development of players and teams in alignment with KS athletic philosophy.

The position is temporary seasonal with a stipend paid at season end. Evening/weekend availability and collaboration with coaching staff are expected for successful game preparation and athlete development.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent experience.
• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certification required.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in coaching.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to relate with a variety of individuals.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates thorough knowledge of sport including rules, tactics and techniques.
• Translates sports knowledge to athletes and develops team performance.
• Teaches individual and team skills to athletes.
• Identifies observable outcomes beyond winning and losing.
• Assists athletes to reach their full potential.
• Organizes and supervises well-planned practices and games with staff.
• Prepares team for games, matches and meets.
• Ensures student-athlete medical and academic eligibility and maintains records.
• Communicates effectively with athletes, parents, faculty, administrators and coaches.
• Promotes program within local and state communities.
