Position: Varsity Football Head Coach

Reports to: Athletic Director

Job Summary:

Traders Point Christian Schools is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Varsity Head Football Coach to lead our football program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for coaching, a strong understanding of the game, and a commitment to developing young athletes both on and off the field.

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate should have previous coaching and/or playing experience.
  • Experience in constructing a program from the ground up and knowledge of IHSAA rules and procedures are highly desired.
  • All applicants should agree and abide by our Athletic Purpose Statement, which reads: Traders Point Christian Schools is committed to developing and maintaining an athletic program that is Christ-centered, comprehensive, and competitive, and allows each athlete a unique venue to be a witness for Christ by using his or her God-given talent to move and play.
  • Previous coaching experience at the high school level or higher.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
  • Knowledge of current football techniques, rules, and strategies.
  • Great fundraising skills.
  • Works well in recruiting/maintaining retention with TPCS student-athletes.
  • Must pass a background check and comply with coaching requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with the Athletic Director in the selection and organization of a qualified coaching staff and oversight of the entire football program, grades 7-12.
  • Overseeing and encouraging the spiritual development of student-athletes.
  • Proactively communicating with parents and stakeholders regarding schedules, etc.
  • Teaching and coaching the fundamentals of the sport, good sportsmanship, leadership, respect for teachers and adults, fair play, the importance of academics, and inspiring confidence in students.
  • Organizing initial team meetings and establishing team rules, procedures, and policies in writing as approved by the Athletic Director.
  • Ensuring that student-athletes are compliant and academically eligible.
  • Abiding by and enforcing TPCA policies on tobacco, alcohol, and drugs.
  • Supervising regular practice sessions and games, and being responsible for the conduct of participants at practice, games (before, during, after), and while traveling as a member of the team.
  • Supervising athletes until the last student leaves that contest.
  • Carrying emergency care cards of students whenever at an official event.
  • Responsible for attending and encouraging assistant coaches to attend required organizational and rules meetings.
  • Ensuring the facility is secure at the close of each practice and/or game.
  • Reporting all accidents/injuries to the Athletic Director and/or administrator.
  • Attending coaches’ meetings when called or scheduled.
  • Following established school procedures for securing necessary equipment and uniforms for the team, and securing approval of the Athletic Director before ordering.
  • Responsible for the distribution, care, cleaning, and inventory of all uniforms and equipment at the beginning and end of each season. Equipment inventory should be received by the Athletic Director within one month of the season’s completion.
  • Planning team year-end banquet and submitting the criterion used and list of letter winners, season record, a list of student-athletes receiving special awards or recognition, and program needs for the following season.
  • Submitting pre-season & season practice schedules (& game schedules, if necessary) to the Athletic Director one month before the commencement of the season.
  • Submitting the initial roster to the Athletic Director before the first practice and notifying the AD of any changes as the season progresses.
  • Reporting all game results to the Athletic Director within 24 hours of the contest finish.
  • Annually completing the Concussion Training and submitting the certificate to the AD before the 1st practice.
  • Developing a system to annually evaluate Assistant Coaches and report those assessments to the AD.
  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive football program.
  • Planning and conducting practice sessions, game strategies, and conditioning.
  • Fostering a positive and competitive team culture, emphasizing sportsmanship and character.
  • Mentoring and guiding players in their athletic, spiritual, and personal growth.
  • Collaborating with the athletic director and other coaches for program improvement.
  • Organizing team events, fundraising, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of student-athletes during practices and games.
  • Communication skills with parents, players, staff, and school employees are essential.

This is a stipend position (1099 Contractor).
