Job summary

Vernon Public Schools is seeking a Varsity Coach for Boys' Ice Hockey at Rockville High School. The role involves leading the hockey program that collaborates with five other high schools, attending events, planning/practicing, and mentoring student athletes both on the ice and in the classroom.

The successful candidate must hold CT Coaching Certification and First Aid/CPR Certification. The position is part-time with a stipend per teacher contract and no benefits.

Qualifications

• CT Coaching Certification required.
• First aid/CPR Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Attend all team events and functions.
• Plan and conduct practices.
• Motivate student athletes on and off the field and in the classroom.
• Coordinate with booster clubs and the six schools involved, as well as the hockey rink.
• Instruct student athletes in game strategies and techniques; ensure safety and supervision of all athletes.

Description: Position is responsible for the operation and organization of the boys ice hockey program at Rockville High School. The program is a cooperative team with 5 other high schools. The selected candidate will be required to: attend all team events, planandconduct practices, motivate student athletes on the field and in the classroom, work with the booster clubs, coordinate with the six schools involved as well as the hockey rink and instruct student athletes in game strategies and techniques. The candidate is responsible for the safety and supervision of all athletes on his/her team.

Qualifications:

CT Coaching Certification & First aid/CPR Certificationrequired.

Salary and Benefits:

The stipend is for this position is per teacher contract. This position is part time and there are no benefits associated with this position. Please see attached contract for details.
