Job summary

Miami University in Oxford, Ohio seeks a Cheer Advisor to support the athletics department by coaching the varsity cheer squad and coordinating performances at home games, away contests, and special events.

The role requires a high school diploma, cheer coaching experience at Division I level, and certification from the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Advisors; occasional evenings, weekends, and travel are expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Experience with Division I cheer squads.
• Certification from the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Advisors.
• Requires experience in cheer coaching (minimum 2 years) that includes recruiting, marketing, choreography, stunting, and tumbling.

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate and recruit academically qualified student-athletes and supervise volunteer coaches.
• Guide practices, attend cheer events, prepare team for competition, develop and enforce discipline.
• Supervise team at Home Men’s & Women’s Basketball and Home and Away Football Contests.
• Teach/instruct performance as well as stunting and tumbling.
• Assist team in developing cheers and choreography.
• Assist tryouts by teaching sideline/16-count dance and contribute to squad selection on judging panel; monitor and maintain budget.
• Order equipment and uniforms.
• Secure practice locations.
• Plan and travel with teams for summer camp trips and away games; coordinate activities for bowl games.
• Supervise squad at Miami Men's and Women's Basketball games; travel to MAC Tournament.
• Organize activity for national cheerleading competition if qualified.
• Organize and supervise all cheerleader tryouts in spring and fall for varsity and junior squads.
• Work with marketing and event management to ensure high quality performance at contests and events.
• Secure a choreographer for squad.
