Job summary

Madison Traditional Academy in Phoenix seeks an Athletic Coach for varsity cheer to support the school sports program and lead training that builds teamwork and athletic skill. Under the Athletic Director, you will help implement policies and ensure safe, competitive activity for students.

The role is part-time with a $1,440 stipend and requires eligibility, weekend availability, and attendance at practices and games.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Possess or obtain IVP fingerprint clearance card.
• Arizona Teaching Certificate (preferred).
• Possess effective communication skills.
• Ability to work part-time and weekends if necessary.
• Attend practices and games as scheduled.
• Varsity head coaching experience or assistant coaching experience.
• Knowledge of athletic program rules and policies.
• CPR/First Aid certification (preferred).
• Two letters of recommendation.

Responsibilities

• Implement essential components of the school site interscholastic sports program, including coaching and supervision of students.
• Supervise students during practice, games, tournaments, and team travel.
• Assist with arranging team games, schedules, tournaments, and transportation.
• Plan, organize, and coordinate sports activities and training workouts, and coaches individuals concerning specific physical performance activities and procedures.
• Provide teaching and instruction in athletic skill development.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of school equipment.
• Model fundamental skills and techniques.
• Model proper dress, language, demeanor and student/teacher relations.
• Follow district athletic policies, rules and regulations.
• Instruct, explain and enforce health and safety rules and regulations.
• Perform basic first aid on students if needed.
• Assess the athletic team skills and abilities and the opponents capabilities and determine game strategies.
• Follow the direction of both the school site and district Athletic Director.
• Work effectively and maintain positive relations with all school and community stakeholders including parents.
• Performs other job related duties as assigned.
