Qualifications

• Must have prior coaching experience at the high school level or higher.
• Strong knowledge of volleyball rules, strategies, and techniques.
• Excellent communication and ability to connect with student-athletes and families.
• Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes to reach potential.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement practice plans focusing on skill development and game strategy.
• Oversee all aspects of the varsity boys volleyball program and practices.
• Promote a positive, inclusive team culture emphasizing sportsmanship.
• Organize schedules for practices, games, and tournaments.
• Communicate with players, parents, and administration about expectations and progress.
• Monitor academics and well-being to balance athletics and academics.
• Collaborate with staff to promote the athletic program.
• Scout opponents to prepare for competition.
• Ensure compliance with school and district athletic regulations.
• Attend coaching clinics to stay updated on techniques.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement practice plans that focus on skill development, teamwork, and game strategy.
• Conduct regular team practices and oversee all aspects of the varsity boys volleyball program.
• Maintain a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes respect, discipline, and sportsmanship.
• Organize and manage team schedules, including practices, games, and tournaments.
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations and progress.
• Monitor the academic performance and well-being of student-athletes to ensure a balanced approach to athletics and academics.
• Collaborate with other coaches and staff to promote the overall athletic program at Grand Ledge High School.
• Scout and analyze opponents to prepare the team for competition.
• Ensure compliance with all school, district, and state athletic regulations.
• Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay updated on the latest coaching techniques and strategies.

Requirements

• Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school level or higher, with a focus on volleyball.
• Strong knowledge of volleyball rules, strategies, and techniques.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with student-athletes and their families.
• Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes to reach their full potential.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification (or the ability to obtain prior to the season).
• A commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team environment.
• Must pass a background check and meet any other requirements set by the school district.
• Availability for practices, games, and team events during the season.
