Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools District 209 seeks a Boys Track & Field Varsity Head Coach to lead the program under the Athletic Director and building principal. The role requires strong leadership, disciplinary approach, and a proven coaching record to develop student-athletes academically and athletically.

The position is stipend-based, contingent on student participation and district approval, and may be discontinued at district discretion.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois State Teaching Certificate (Type 03, 09, or 10) OR ASEP/NFHS Certification.
• CPR and AED certification as required by IHSA.
• IHSA concussion awareness training and safety protocols.
• Background check and fingerprinting per Illinois School Code.
• Title IX training to ensure compliance.
• In-depth knowledge of track and field; prior coaching experience.
• Coaching Certification required for non-teaching staff.
• Concussion certification valid for two years.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all aspects of the Boys Tracks and Field program.
• Provide leadership, supervision, and organization for training and competition.
• Foster an inclusive, positive environment for students, staff, and parents.
• Maintain strong public relations with stakeholders and ensure safety protocols.
• Plan and implement training programs based on best practices in track.
• Instruct athletes and assistants in fundamentals, strategies, and safety.
• Ensure compliance with IHSA, ISBE, and district regulations.
• Coordinate with Athletic Director on schedule, equipment, and budget.
