Job summary

Spokane Public Schools seeks an extracurricular coach to lead the tennis program, develop student skills, and maintain safety and organization with students, parents, and coaches. A college degree is preferred, and familiarity with tennis is essential to teach game fundamentals and strategy.

The role includes supervising practices, coordinating with principals and activities staff, and ensuring compliance with insurance, rosters, and equipment handling.

Qualifications

• College degree or college training preferred with a high school diploma or equivalent as a minimum qualification.
• Demonstrate positive attitude toward students and ability to motivate them toward developing a successful program.
• Understand the activity, its safety practice, techniques, rules, and progression of skill development.

Responsibilities

• See that school policies and rules/regulations are carried out as outlined by the building principal/activities coordinator and the activities handbook.
• Direct supervision and conduct of the team until students are dismissed from the building or returned to class.
• Carry out the administration of the activity regarding: Insurance requirements, parent/guardian approval cards, maintaining team roster, accident reports, accountability of uniforms, team transportation, and security of athletes' personal property.
• Emphasize safety precautions, and be aware of the best training and injury procedures.
• Distribute information/activity schedules to building principals, secretary, parents, and participants.
• Attend meetings as called by the activities coordinator.
• Care for and maintain equipment for his/her activity.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
