Job summary

MCPS is seeking an athletics coach for a seasonal role. Applicants must be interviewed and hired by the principal or designee at the school where the vacancy exists. Coaches must be qualified and hired for one season; schools must hire qualified MCPS teachers or professional certified educators where available.

Emergency coaches may be hired if no qualified MCPS educator is available. To certify as a coach, applicants must be MCPS teachers or certified educators, complete or enroll in the MCPS

Qualifications

• Be an MCPS teacher or professional certified educator employed by MCPS
• Have completed or be enrolled in the two credit MCPS course "Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries, Coaching Fundamentals and CPR/AED" which is offered periodically through the MCPS Athletics Unit
• Complete/submit the on-line MCPS Application
• Be a certified teacher (though not employed by MCPS) for Level I Emergency Coach
• Be a high school graduate for Level II Emergency Coach
• Be at least 21 years of age for Level II Emergency Coach
• Have completed the two credit MCPS course "Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries, Coaching Fundamentals and CPR/AED"
• Complete/submit the on-line MCPS Application
