Job summary

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) seeks athletic coaches for school-based vacancies. Applicants must be interviewed and hired by the principal or designee at the school hosting the coaching vacancy.

Coaching roles are for one season and require MCPS teacher or certified educator qualifications where possible. All applicants must complete the MCPS course Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries, Coaching Fundamentals and CPR/AED and submit the online MCPS application.

Qualifications

• Must have completed or be enrolled in the MCPS two-credit course Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries, Coaching Fundamentals and CPR/AED
• Applicant must be an MCPS teacher or professional certified educator employed by MCPS
• Individuals may be emergency coaches if no qualified MCPS teacher or professional educator is available

Responsibilities

• Interviewed and hired by the principal or designee at the school where the coaching vacancy exists
• Coaches must be qualified and are hired for one season
• Schools must hire qualified MCPS teachers or professional certified educators to coaching positions, if available
• Emergency coaches may be hired if no qualified MCPS teacher or professional certified educator is available
• To coach as a Level I Emergency Coach, applicant must be a certified teacher (not required to be employed by MCPS) and have completed the MCPS course and submitted the online MCPS Application
• To coach as a Level II Emergency Coach, applicant must be a high school graduate, be at least 21, have completed the MCPS course, and submit the online MCPS Application
