Job summary

Pelham School District Pelham High School is seeking a Varsity Baseball Coach for a part-time, seasonal role paid by a stipend. The coach will foster team culture, instruct and supervise players, and coordinate with school staff to support student-athletes.

The role requires prior high school varsity coaching experience, NHIAA rule knowledge, and relevant certifications. CPR/First Aid and NFHS credentials are preferred, with a strong emphasis on organization and communication.

Qualifications

  • Prior high school varsity or junior varsity coaching experience is preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification is preferred.
  • NFHS Certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of coaching techniques and NHIAA rules is required.
  • Ability to instruct, lead and supervise student athletes with strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Educate students through interscholastic competition and enhance academic achievement.
  • Establish philosophy, skills, and techniques for the coaching staff.
  • Supervise practices and contests to promote athletic growth, teamwork and sportsmanship.
  • Adhere to injury procedures and protect athletes, equipment and facilities.
  • Support participation in other school activities and collaborate with colleagues.

Home to more than 1,600 students, the Pelham School District is composed of Pelham Elementary School serving preschool through grade 5, Pelham Memorial School serving students in grades 6 through 8, and Pelham High School serving students in grades 9 through 12. About the Position

The function of a coach is to properly educate students through participation in interscholastic competition. The interscholastic program is designed to enhance academic achievement and should never interfere with opportunities for academic success. In recognition of this, the following are someof the responsibilities for this position:

  • The coach is accountable for the culture of the team and conduct of any of the assistant coaches, players, team officials, and team-affiliated spectators.
  • Establish the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques to be taught by the coaching staff.
  • Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
  • Adhere to injury procedures established by the Pelham High School Athletic Department.
  • Take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Have the total athletic and school program at interest. Be supportive of student participation in other school activities and communicate with colleagues regarding expectations in and out of season.
  • Develop a program not only within the high school but within the town and community by connecting with the middle school and youth programs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior high school varsity or junior varsity coaching experience.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • NFHS Certification
  • Knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
  • Knowledge of NHIAA rules
  • Demonstrated ability to instruct, lead and supervise student athletes
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
What We Offer

This is a seasonal, part-time position paid by a stipend. Stipends are paid twice per season—mid-way and at the conclusion of the season. This role does not qualify for benefits.
