Job summary

Ashland Public Schools is seeking a Varsity Assistant Football Coach for the Fall 2026 season at Ashland High School. The coach will be responsible for coaching, character development and directing student athletes to achieve skill, discipline and teamwork, while aligning with the Athletic Department and APS School District values.

Responsibilities include coaching duties, collaboration with staff and parents, and safety awareness.

Qualifications

• Coaching and/or playing experience at the high school level or above preferred.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Available to practice after school, weekends and evenings.
• Establish team goals and rules and communicate them to all.
• CPR/First Aid Certified preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coach football and develop players' skills and understanding of the game.
• Foster discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork within the program.
• Interact thoughtfully with student athletes, staff, parents and community.
• Report to the Athletic Director and collaborate with school leadership.

Job Description

Ashland High School is seeking an Assistant Football Coach for the Fall 2026 season. Ashland’s coaches are actively engaged in the community, and embrace both the mission and values of the Athletic Department and APS School District. The role of the Assistant Football Coach is to be responsible for coaching, character development and providing direction to student athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork in football. This job requires you to interact thoughtfully and respectfully with student athletes, fellow coaches, staff, parents and community and well as follow the mission of the school. Positive communication strategies, organizational skills, and safety awareness are key requirements. The Varsity Assistant Football Coach reports to the Athletic Director.
