Van Driver - Centennial School District

Term of Employment: Part-time 180/191/200 Days / Ten Months

Pay Range: MINIMUM $18.15, MID $21.78, MAX $25.41 per hour

Vacancies are generally hired between the min-mid; additional compensation may be considered for highly qualified applicants.

Job Goal

The van driver is responsible for promoting high safety standards, ensuring proper child restraints, maintaining the department schedule, and communicating performance to supervisors. The role involves providing safe, efficient transportation of students and interacting professionally with staff, students, and parents.

Essential Functions
  1. Safely drives a 9-passenger school van to pick up and drop off students according to a prescribed route and schedule.
  2. Assists students with disabilities or in need of help, ensuring safety and proper handling of medical equipment.
  3. Follows all safety laws and regulations, including speed limits and safe driving practices.
  4. Maintains discipline and confidentiality, reports misconduct, and ensures the vehicle's safety and cleanliness.
  5. Keeps route schedules, student rosters, and mileage reports updated and submits required documentation timely.
  6. Transports only authorized passengers, discharges at authorized stops, and checks the vehicle at the end of the route.
  7. Builds positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and district personnel.
  8. Inspects and maintains the vehicle, reports repairs, and ensures safety equipment functions properly.
  9. Enforces safety regulations, reports accidents immediately, and conducts safety drills as required.
  10. Maintains knowledge of first aid procedures and carries necessary documentation, including a physician’s certificate.

All employment is provisional for 90 days as per ACT 168 of 2014. Submit the ACT 168 form to all current and former employers with whom you had contact with children.
