WAKEMAN BOYS & GIRLS CLUB is seeking a YDP/Van Driver to safely transport youth members to and from school, the clubhouse, and Club-sponsored events. The role combines youth development support with transportation duties and is limited to 29.5 hours per week.

The ideal candidate will hold a valid CT public passenger endorsement, a clean driving record, and experience working with youth. CPR/AED/First Aid certification is preferred, and strong communication is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operates 12-passenger vehicles in accordance with schedules and routes
  • Ensures safety of passengers and compliance with traffic laws and Club policies
  • Maintains order and proper discipline of youth
  • Conducts daily vehicle safety inspections and ensures vehicles are clean and stocked with safety equipment
  • Logs mileage, fuel usage, and passenger attendance
  • Reports incidents or mechanical issues promptly
  • Supervises groups of 10–20 youth
  • Facilitates age-appropriate academic, recreational, STEM, arts, and physical activities
  • Promotes positive behavior, teamwork, and emotional safety
  • Communicates concerns with supervisor

TITLE: YDP/Van Driver

LOCATION: Smilow-Burroughs Clubhouse

DEPARTMENT: ASP Staff

REPORTS TO: Unit Executive Director

EMPLOYEE CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time

PAY: $18.00-$25.00 per hour

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The YDP/Van Driver serves a dual role supporting youth development and transportation services. This position is responsible for safely transporting youth members to and from school, the clubhouse, and Club-sponsored events, while also assisting in the supervision, organization, and implementation of after school and out-of-school programming. This role will not exceed 29.5 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safely operates 12-passenger vehicles in accordance with schedules and routes.
  • Ensures safety of passengers and compliance with traffic laws and Club policies.
  • Maintains order and proper discipline of youth.
  • Conducts daily vehicle safety inspections and ensures vehicles are clean and stocked with safety equipment.
  • Logs mileage, fuel usage, and passenger attendance.
  • Reports incidents or mechanical issues promptly.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
