In this position, you will play a vital role in improving consumer mobility by delivering professional and accessible transportation services in a safe, dependable, comfortable, and courteous manner. You will drive a county vehicle for an average of 150 miles daily. This role not only involves providing transportation but also offers social interaction for our clients, including senior adults and individuals who rely on wheelchairs. It presents an excellent opportunity for independent work. Strong communication skills are essential, both in person and through two-way radio. A willingness and patience to assist consumers, particularly senior adults, and those in wheelchairs, along uneven or unpaved surfaces is required. Flexibility in adapting to daily schedules is necessary, and a personable demeanor is crucial, as you will be offering significant assistance and companionship throughout the day.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Part-time employment, 14 to 21+ hours per week.
  • Work hours vary between 4:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Limited hours on Saturday.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of employment which required operation of a motor vehicle as a regular duty; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

  • You must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.

Condition of Employment:

  • No suspension of driver’s license within the last three years.

Other Requirements:

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Lackawanna, Monroe, Pike, Susquehanna, or Wayne counties. If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
  • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
