Job summary

Shenandoah Community School District in Shenandoah, IA is seeking a Van Driver to provide safe, reliable transportation for students on daily routes. As the first and last staff member students meet, you ensure a positive, orderly environment during transit.

Qualifications

Van Driver

District: Shenandoah Community School District
Location: Shenandoah, IA

Role Overview
We are looking for dependable, safety-minded individuals to join our transportation team. As a Van Driver, you are the first and last face our students see every school day. Your primary mission is to provide safe and efficient transportation while maintaining a positive environment for students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safe Transit: Safely operate a school van on designated routes and according to a set time schedule.
  • Student Supervision: Maintain order and discipline among students in the van following district policies.
  • Vehicle Inspection: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections (checking tires, lights, brakes, etc.) to ensure the van is in peak operating condition.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) and Department of Education regulations.

Required Qualifications & Certifications
To ensure the safety of our students, all candidates must meet the following criteria:

License & Endorsements: Possess (or be willing to obtain) a valid Iowa Chauffeur's License.

  • Clean Driving Record: A driving history free of major violations or frequent infractions.
  • Background Check: Must pass a comprehensive criminal background check and child abuse registry check.
  • Physical Fitness: Must pass a DOT physical exam.
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Benefits & Perks

  • Competitive Pay: $18.02/hour, $48.35/route.
  • IPERS Eligible: This position contributes to the Iowa Public Employees' Retirement System (IPERS).
