Job summary

Dillman & Upton, a Mans Family Company, seeks a Box Van Driver to transport lumber and building materials locally and return home every evening. You will drive safely, load/unload, and verify deliveries with signatures, coordinating with dispatch to meet schedules.

The role requires a valid high school diploma or GED, 2+ years driving a tractor-trailer or large truck, and a clean driving record with the ability to pass background and drug tests. Full-time, Monday–Friday with peak Saturday shifts.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a Box Van Driver, you will be responsible for transporting and delivering products and materials to our customers. You will safely and efficiently transport lumber and building materials, locally (so you will be home each evening), to the assigned destination using company vehicles and equipment.

THE NITTY GRITTY
  • Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned delivery vehicle
  • Transport lumber and materials from place of origin to assigned destination, mapping the route to ensure timely deliveries
    • Safely and efficiently handle and unload lumber and materials at selected destinations
    • Ensure contents are properly secured in the box truck to prevent breakage or damage
  • Pick up loads and organize lumber in an ordered, logical manner
  • Obtain signatures or warehouse scans to confirm and complete deliveries with clients
  • Assist warehouse staff and customers with loading and unloading processes
  • Communicate with dispatch, as needed
  • Confirm that the contents of each shipment load match the Bistrack purchasing document
  • Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip
  • Check weather conditions and road reports before departure
  • Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, change oil, tire pressure, repairs, etc.); notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered
  • Follow processes to confirm all product is being delivered and follow protocol when an item is missing, damaged, or refused
  • Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs
  • Track and report working hours
  • Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to the weather/road conditions
  • Comply with ICC and DOT regulations, making safety a priority always
WHAT YOU NEED

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position primarily operates a box van to transport building materials and products to customer job sites and business locations. Drivers can expect a combination of driving, loading and unloading materials, and interacting with customers throughout the day. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is a largely labor-intensive role, and qualified candidates will be required to use their arms, hands, legs and back regularly. This role would also require the ability to lift, bend, walk and stand as necessary, as well lifting at least 80 pounds consistently.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Some Saturday work will also be required during peak season (May - October).
