Job summary

City of Cleveland Heights is seeking an on-site driver to operate a passenger van on established routes and for special trips, transporting senior citizens with safety at the forefront.

The role involves vehicle inspections, routine cleaning, and accurate trip reporting, with ongoing driver education and training to maintain proficiency. A valid Ohio driver's license and five years of driving experience are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge Of: Safe driving practices, customer service principles, state laws regarding passenger van operations.
• Skill In: Driving, parking and safely operating a vehicle.
• Ability To: Exercise independent judgment, prioritize work, prepare and process forms and reports, provide customer service.
• Education And/Or Experience: High School Diploma or GED and five years of driving experience.
• Certification/ Licensure: Valid Ohio Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Drives a passenger van on designated routes and schedules, picking up and discharging senior citizens.
• Inspects van prior to operation for safety, cleans interior and exterior, and maintains overall vehicle condition.
• Identifies and reports vehicle problems; initiates work orders to address issues.
• Completes trip records as required by state laws and policies; files accident/incident reports.
• Attends courses and meetings for driver education and training.
• Transports mail and documents to City offices.
• Maintains regular attendance and punctuality in job duties.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.

• Completes accurate trip records as required by State laws and policies. Files accident or incident reports.
• Attends courses and meetings that contribute to continuing driver education.
• Transports mail and other documents to and from City offices.
• Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Incumbents drives a passenger van or equivalent vehicle to transport senior citizen patrons between locations using an established schedule and on special trips by dispatch or prior arrangement.
