Job summary

Yellowstone Engineered Solutions in Houston, TX is seeking a Valve Technician to assemble, test, and maintain metal seated ball valves for severe service markets. You will work with operations, quality, engineering, and service teams to ensure valves meet API, ISO, and QA standards.

The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and documentation, with hands-on duties including disassembly, troubleshooting, bench testing, torqueing, and valve/actuator assembly.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in valve assembly, repair, testing, or related mechanical service environments.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
• Knowledge of API 598 valve testing procedures, practices, and quality requirements.
• Experience conduction hydrostatic and pneumatic leak testing.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift up to 50 pounds.
• Strong commitment to safety and QA procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, repair, test, and validate ball valves.
• Disassemble valve/actuator assemblies and document irregularities.
• Assist in evaluation by photo documenting discrepancies.
• Perform bench tests on actuators and document results.
• Disassemble and replace damaged components in actuators as needed.
• Assemble ball valves per drawings, BOMs, and work instructions.
• Perform precision torqueing of valve components to specs.
• Conduct Shell Tests at 1.5x maximum CWP.
• Perform Seat Tests per API 598 and leakage standards.
• Safely lift and mount actuators using overhead cranes.
• Verify actuator stroke, bench set, and positioner calibration.
• Document all work per QA and safety procedures.
• Operate and maintain testing equipment to standards.
• Maintain safe, clean, and organized work area.
