Job summary

Control Southern in Chattanooga, TN is seeking an experienced valve and actuator repair technician. The role involves inspecting, repairing, calibrating, testing, and documenting work on a range of valves and actuators at customer sites and repair facilities.

The candidate should have 1–3 years in valve/pump/actuator repair (welding or machining a plus), hold a valid driver’s license, and be able to lift up to 44 lbs. Overtime and travel are required as needed.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years in valve, pump, or actuator repair (or equivalent training). Welding and machining skills are a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and insurability.
• Ability to lift up to 44 lbs and work in varied conditions (heat, cold, clean rooms).
• Comfortable with off-hours, weekends, and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, and maintain a variety of valves and actuators; perform calibration, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Complete full repair cycle: pre-testing, disassembly, cleaning, machining, lapping, painting, assembly, and final inspection.
• Document repair activities, including cause of failure and parts used.
• Provide technical support and communicate with customers on-site and in-shop.
• Adhere to National Board VR/UV program guidelines and site-specific safety requirements.
• Operate repair equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts, sandblasters, and power tools.

What You'll Do

• Inspect, repair, and maintain a variety of valves (control, safety, relief, gate, globe, check, ball, butterfly, plug) and actuators (pneumatic, hydraulic, electric).
• Perform calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of valves and process instrumentation.
• Complete full repair cycle: pre-testing, disassembly, cleaning, machining, lapping, painting, assembly, and final inspection.
• Document all repair activities, including cause of failure and parts used.
• Provide technical support and communicate with customers on-site and in-shop.
• Adhere to National Board VR/UV program guidelines and site-specific safety requirements.
• Operate repair equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts, sandblasters, and power tools.

What We're Looking For

• Experience: 1-3 years in valve, pump, or actuator repair (or equivalent training). Welding and machining skills are a plus.
