Job summary

The Kendall Group is seeking a Valve Automation Service Technician to support fabrication operations, assemble and test automated valves, and travel to customer sites for service. You will read blueprints, perform repairs, and participate in safety initiatives.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and test automated and control valves.
  • Assemble product to drawings and standards.
  • Troubleshoot valve problems and perform repairs.
  • Provide field service at customer sites as needed.
  • Certify backflow test kits.
  • Schedule work orders with sales and shipments with logistics.
  • Perform basic wiring of switches and control devices.
  • Read job blueprints and participate in shop housekeeping.

Role Summary: Reporting to the Valve Automation Manager, the Valve Automation Service Technician is responsible for supporting the materials management function of the fabrication department. Service technicians and fabricators are essential to the overall operation of the business. While specific daily tasks can vary depending on the current workload, a Valve Automation Service Technician's primary responsibility will be providing evaluation and repair of automated and control valves, assembling new automated and control valves, and traveling to customer locations to provide service in the field as needed.

Exciting work you will do:

The essential duties and responsibilities of the Valve Automation Service Technician position will consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assemble and test automated and control valves
  • Assemble product to specific drawings and standards
  • Troubleshoot automated and control valve problems and perform necessary repairs
  • Respond and provide service in the field as needed and required
  • Certify backflow preventer test kits
  • Schedule work order assemblies with salespeople and shipments with the shipping department
  • Perform basic wiring of switches, solenoids, position indicators, and control devices
  • Perform product quality testing
  • Paint product
  • Read job blueprints
  • Participate in safety initiatives as assigned
  • Maintain quality and quantity performance and production standards
  • Operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, hand trucks, crane, etc.
  • Participate in ongoing general housekeeping of shop facilities
  • Check assigned equipment for proper operation/functionality and communicate problems to Shop Manager
  • Follow safe work habits and established safety procedures
  • Perform other fabrication tasks as assigned

What you'll need:
  • Work Experience: Entry Level
  • Education: High School diploma or GED
  • Analytics/Computer Skills: Ability to use standard office equipment, including but not limited to computerized bar code scanner, printer, and standard warehouse equipment/tools/machines/vehicles; basic math and reasoning skills
  • Organization Skills: Excellent work ethic, good verbal and communication skills; ability to work independently
  • Cross-functional skills: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and through the direction of a Valve Automation Manager
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization; know when to request assistance when appropriate, especially when lifting heavy objects
  • Physical, Mental and Visual Skills: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to frequently lift/move up to 50lbs; ability to stand, walk, lift, pull, and push during entire work shift
  • Physical Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to temperature conditions prevalent at the time; the noise level in the work environment is consistent with that of a fabrication shop/distribution center
  • Licenses: Possess a valid driver's license in good standing
  • Travel: Occasional travel to customer sites
Qualifications we prefer but don't require:
  • Work Experience: 1 year experience in valve automation or equivalent experience
  • Certificate: Certification in the operation of a forklift truck
