Job summary

AeroPlastics Inc in Renton, WA, is seeking an experienced production leader to drive the company’s Lean manufacturing program and achieve on-time delivery, quality, and KPI targets.

You will coordinate new product introductions, manage supervisors, support IT issues, and partner with supply chain and quality teams to fulfill orders and uphold AS9100 requirements. Travel occasionally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of eight years of progressive manufacturing experience, including at least five years in a leadership, supervisory, or management role.
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma certification or experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in the aerospace industry preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate new product introductions and launches with engineering and manufacturing.
  • Manage the activities of team leaders and supervise production floor operations.
  • Maintain relationships with production employees and support departments to ensure necessary support.
  • Drive manufacturing excellence initiatives including Lean/CI projects and Six Sigma events.
  • Work with Supply Chain to ensure raw materials are on order and available to the Line of Business.
  • Own and represent entire Value Stream in production meetings.
  • Support the QMS and AS9100 requirements for the assigned production area.
  • Communicate commitments to customers and ensure timely response on escapes and CARs.
  • Hire, train, upgrade and manage department personnel; manage expenses and OT budgets.
  • Schedule and prioritize all work to support production requirements and on-time completion.

Summary of the Role:

Provide leadership in the implementation and achievement of the Company’s business plan and agreed objectives of production, on time delivery & arrears, quality and other key performance indicator (KPI) targets. Develop action plans and continuous improvement initiatives to achieve the benefits of identified opportunities. Drive continuous improvements efforts in implementation of LEAN manufacturing as part of TSS’s drive toward a world-class manufacturing facility.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for effective coordination of new product introductions and launches with engineering and manufacturing.
  • Manage the activities of team leaders and key staff to oversee the production floor, coordinate the efficient placement of manpower, and serve as the primary IT contact for the area by facilitating support requests and assisting employees with technology-related issues.
  • Maintain productive, informative and functional relationships with the production employees throught\out all service departments to ensure necessary support.
  • Manage on-going efforts in manufacturing excellence initiatives including corporately driven programs which required regular reporting.
  • Work with Supply chain to assure raw materials on order and/or available to LOB
  • Own and represent entire Value Stream in Production meetings
  • Support the QMS (Quality management system) and AS9100 requirements for assigned production area.
  • Communicate commits to customers/Assure timely response on all escapes and /or CAR’S (Customers or internal)
  • Clear roadblocks preventing appropriate flow of assigned products works in concert with Quality, Engineering, Design, Sales, Finance etc...
  • Hire train, upgrade and manage assigned department personnel activities in concert with HR. Responsible for expense management and OT budgets for assigned units.
  • Support 5s initiatives and all Lean/ CI projects: Lead minimum of 3 Six sigma/ Lean events in year
  • Schedule and prioritize all work within the assigned area to support production requirements and on-time completion of customer orders.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field required.
  • Minimum of eight years of progressive manufacturing experience, including at least five years in a leadership, supervisory, or management role.
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma certification or experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in the aerospace industry preferred.

Travel:

  • Willing to travel occasionally where required. Number of days cannot be stated at this time.

The final compensation offered to the candidate may be based on geographical location, work experience and/or skill level. Additions to the compensation packing, including but not limited to paid time off, insurance benefits and 401(k) eligibility, will be outlined at the time of the job offer.

Compensation range: $100,000 - $120,000
