Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Contribute to the directional strategy of the global Valuation Control function, anticipating market trends and their impact on the business.
- Provide thought leadership on technical valuation issues, market practices, and industry standards.
- Lead and mentor a team of valuation analysts, fostering a culture of excellence, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
- Negotiate and influence effectively at a senior level with stakeholders across the front office, risk management, and finance.
Valuation & Risk Oversight
- Oversee the end-to-end valuation control process for the NAM Commodities business, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the firm’s financial statements.
- Develop and implement innovative solutions for complex valuation issues through in-depth analysis and creative problem-solving.
- Apply mastery of product valuation to independently review and challenge trading desk marks, methodologies, and models.
- Ensure robust price verification processes are in place and that valuation adjustments (e.g., for liquidity, model risk) are accurately calculated and justified.
Control & Compliance
- Appropriately assess risk in all business decisions, with a primary focus on safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and its assets.
- Drive compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations, and adhere strictly to internal policies.
- Escalate, manage, and report control issues with transparency and a sense of urgency.
- Uphold the firm’s reputation by applying sound ethical judgment in all personal and business conduct.
Qualifications & Skills
- A minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience in Valuation Control, Market Risk Management, or a related quantitative finance role.
- Strong understanding of financial modeling, pricing theory, and risk management techniques.
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or Engineering.
- Communication: Consistently demonstrates clear, concise, and impactful written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to a diverse audience.
- Analytical Acumen: Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills with a high level of ingenuity and creativity.
- Leadership: Strong leadership presence with the ability to operate with significant independence and sound judgment.
- Stakeholder Management: Adept at building and maintaining strong relationships with senior business partners and control functions.
- Integrity: A steadfast commitment to ethical conduct and a strong control mindset.
