Job summary

Southern California Edison in Rosemead, CA is seeking a Valuation Analytics Senior Specialist to provide the analytical foundation for procurement and valuation work, developing insights, tools, and analyses that support clean energy procurement, regulatory guidance, and portfolio decisions.

You will build valuation models, work with Python, Excel, and related platforms, research technologies and market trends, and shape recommendations to advance SCE's clean energy strategy.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience in financial planning, modeling and/or forecasting.
• Experience with valuation, forecasting, optimization, or energy market modeling techniques.
• Ability to perform complex quantitative analysis and translate results for stakeholders.
• Experience with large datasets and analytics tools such as Python, Power BI, Excel/VBA.

Responsibilities

• Executes analytical support for projects and initiatives that shape SCE's strategy and long-term plans.
• Develops horizon planning capabilities through scenario development amid uncertainty.
• Uses analytical models and grid planning tools to forecast resource portfolio impacts on pricing and emissions.
• Researches new technologies for cost-effectiveness and supply/demand resources.
• Develops models for energy policy, regulation, and new business models.
• Analyzes energy market trends and supports hedging and position management.
• Manages contract requirements, reviews payments, and supports stakeholder recommendations.

• Protects data and maintains high standards of information security.

In this job, you’llprovide the analytical foundation for the team's procurement and valuation work, developing insights, tools, and analyses that support clean energy procurement, regulatory guidance, and portfolio strategy decisions. You will support the evaluation of clean energy resources, including solar and battery storage projects, by reviewing offer data, validating assumptions, running financial valuation models, and summarizing results for procurement decisions. You'll research emerging technologies and market trends, evaluate evolving policy and regulatory frameworks, improve valuation methodologies, develop analytical tools using Python, Excel, or similar platforms, and help shape recommendations that support SCE's clean energy procurement strategy.

Responsibilities

• Executes analytical support for projects and initiatives that help shape SCE's strategy, as well as long-term resource and climate adaptation plans.
• Facilitates horizon planning capabilities through scenario development in the face of uncertainty driven by exogenous market factors, like climate change and emerging technologies.
• Executes the use of analytical models and grid planning simulation tools, forecasting the impacts of various resource portfolio scenarios on system pricing, GHG emissions, and other system dimensions.
• Conducts research on new technologies, focusing on their cost-effectiveness and potential for supply and demand-side energy resources.
• Develops analytical models and methods for a variety of applications, including evaluating energy policies, regulations, climate change impacts, and new business models.
• Drives the analysis of market trends in the energy and ancillary services markets.
• Manages contract requirements, reviews payments, manages disputes and makes strategic recommendations to maximize benefits to customers.
• Deploys and improves statistical and econometric models to forecast electricity demand and energy commodity prices to support position management and hedging.
• A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience in financial planning, modeling and/or forecasting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with valuation, forecasting, optimization, statistical analysis, or energy market modeling techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to perform complex quantitative analysis and translate results into clear, actionable recommendations for business stakeholders.
• Experience working with large datasets and analytical tools such as Python, Power BI, Excel/VBA, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of California energy markets.
• Experience developing, automating, or maintaining analytical models, workflows, and quality control processes.

Additional Information

• This position’s work mode ishybrid.The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work andreside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
