Job summary

Gibraltar is seeking a Valley Machine Operator to join our Lancaster, PA facility on the 3rd shift (11pm–7am). You will set up machinery, load stock, inspect quality, and ensure safe operation in a robust manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with basic arithmetic in decimals and fractions.
• Ability to read and interpret simple charts.
• Ability to receive and follow oral instructions from supervisor/lead.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in reports and quality checks.
• Consistent mental and visual attention during shifts.
• Physical ability to lift 3–27 lbs (aluminum), 7–62 lbs (steel), 12–42 lbs (copper).

Responsibilities

• Set up: adjust length controls, width guides, tapers, load coiled stock, thread machinery.
• Load cartons into carton magazine during painting operations.
• Prepare corrugated cartons and fill with product, seal with staple or sealer.
• Move finished product to shipping pallet using proper lifting techniques.
• Check labels on product and carton for correct placement.
• Wrap pallet and transport to designated area with forklift.
• Re-supply work area with new pallets and materials.
• Periodically inspect product length for consistency.
• Check metal conditions such as oil can, wavy edge, paint quality, color match.
• Notify supervisor of any quality problems.
• Lubricate machinery and refill lubrication devices as needed.
• Dispose of scrap metal and maintain a neat area.
• Record time and production data accurately in the computer.
• Perform any other duties as required by leadership.

Requirements

We are searching for a candidate with:

• Must know ordinary arithmetic in decimals and fractions
• Must be able to read simple charts
• Must be able to receive oral instructions from a supervisor or lead person relating to the task
• Be able to view surroundings and operate in a safe manner
• Detail Oriented- reports need to be accurate as well as noticing any defects
• Mental and visual attention is always needed
• Lift between 3-27 pounds for aluminum products, 7-62 pounds for steel products, 12-42 pounds for copper products (Assistance is available for heavier products)

Duties and Responsibilities

A typical day may include:

• Set-up involves the setting of length controls, adjustments of width guides, tapers, loading coiled stock and stringing up of machinery
• When running painted valley, load cartons into a carton magazine
• Preform corrugated cartons and fill with product, seal using a staple, carton sealer or other tool
• Move the finished product to a shipping pallet using established lifting techniques
• Make sure the product and carton labels are correct and in the proper place
• Wrap the pallet with stretch wrap and hand transport to designated area-using forklift
• Re-supply work area with a new pallet
• Make periodic inspections of product length
• Check for various metal conditions such as oilcan or wavy edge, paint quality and color match
• Notify a supervisor of any quality problems
• Lubricate the machine or refill lubrication devices as required
• Dispose of any scrap metal
• Maintain a safe work area and keep in a neat and orderly manner
• Stock supplies when need to be filled
• Fill out all required paperwork
• Enter all time and production information into the computer in a timely and accurate manner
• Any other responsibilities deemed necessary by Leadership
• Full Time
