Job summary

Helion in Everett, WA is seeking an on-site Mechanical Engineer to own vacuum-system hardware for fusion generators. You will report to the Senior Manager of Mechanical Engineering and collaborate with technicians to deliver robust hardware.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in engineering, 3+ years of hands-on, multidisciplinary experience, and CAD proficiency with NX or SolidWorks. You will apply first-principles thinking to challenging problems and iterate designs toward a fully functioning

Qualifications

• Application of first-principles and method-based thinking.
• Experience across fluids, mechanical, and controls.
• Hands-on engineering experience across disciplines.
• CAD-driven design processes and reviews.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Own hardware designs for vacuum systems on Helion's fusion generators.
• Drive system definition from requirements, CONOPs, P&ID and component selection through hardware commissioning.
• Perform analysis with in-house and out-of-house tools and hold design reviews.
• Work hands-on alongside technicians to implement hardware designs.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to negotiate interfaces with other subsystems.
• Learn from experts to expand technical skills and domain knowledge.
• Troubleshoot hardware issues on integrated fusion generators.
