Job summary

Merck is seeking an Operations Manager at the Durham, NC site to lead manufacturing teams in the profitable and compliant production of vaccines and therapeutics. You will coach personnel, drive performance management, and ensure timely payroll approvals using site software like ADP.

Qualifications

• Minimum six (6) years of experience in a manufacturing/technical role, or four (4) years with a Bachelor’s in Life Science or Engineering.
• Willingness to rotate shifts (2-3-3, 4x10.5h, or 5x8.5h) including weekends/holidays.
• Ability to enter classified areas after gowning procedures and lead a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop, motivate, and manage a team to ensure reliable manufacturing process execution.
• Assign yearly objectives aligned with department and site goals.
• Provide regular feedback and coaching to employees on performance.
• Lead manufacturing floor presence and enforce standard work across teams.
• Coach team members on smaller improvement projects and participate in cross-functional project teams.
