Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America is seeking a production/line operator at its Athens, TN facility. The role involves performing a variety of line duties in a fast-paced dairy manufacturing environment, including processing, packaging, sanitation, and equipment operation.

You will review process data, participate in training, and help maintain quality, safety, and GMP compliance. Strong teamwork, accurate record-keeping, and basic math are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 2 to 4 years of manufacturing/production experience preferred in dairy or consumer goods.
• Certification and/or license may be required during course of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of line duties in manufacturing, including senior-level processing, machine operation, or break relief roles.
• Review process data and equipment performance to improve quality and throughput.
• Assist with functional-area training as needed.
• Review charts, screens, and quality sheets in hard copy and electronic format.
• Engage in problem solving to improve production, safety, quality and yields.
• Set up jobs, operate equipment, and ensure proper function and efficiency.
• Monitor quality data and report variations to supervisor and lab.
• Inspect for issues and perform preventative maintenance as needed.
• Report food safety and quality issues to management immediately.
• Maintain safe working conditions and GMP/compliance with regulations.
• Other duties may be assigned as required.

General Purpose

Perform proficiently in different aspect of multiple plant duties. Provide relief in jobs and learn duties of production, packaging, sanitation, and other roles as assigned.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of line duties within the manufacturing environment to include highly skilled / senior-level processing, machine operator, and/or break relief operator jobs (e.g., Receiver, Blend/Filler/CIP/Retort/ Evaporator/Pasteurizer operators). This may include troubleshooting and performing minor maintenance repairs
• Review process data and equipment performance data to improve quality, throughput, and troubleshoot
• Assist with training efforts in functional area as needed
• Review charts, screens, quality check sheets, and specifications that are in both hard copy and electronic format
• Engage in problem solving to assist in improving production, safety, quality, and yields
• Ensure operational efficiencies by positioning work, setting up of jobs, adjusting and operating equipment for proper functions and manufacturing of product
• Perform quality monitoring of statistical information and report on variations to supervisor and lab
• Inspect and identify any issues and perform preventative maintenance when needed
• Report any food safety and food quality related issues to management immediately
• Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues
• Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 2 to 4 years of manufacturing/production experience needed, preferably in the dairy or consumer goods industry
• Certification and/or License - may be required during course of employment
