Job summary

Qualifications

• Three years of experience inspecting or working in building maintenance, plumbing, electrical, or related work.
• ICC Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector Certification required or must be obtained within 10 months.
• Valid Illinois Driver's License and ability to pass background checks.
• Ability to operate computer systems and learn CivicGov or similar permitting software.
• Experience with municipal code enforcement or licensing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage the vacant building registry and conduct inspections for compliance.
• Document conditions, prepare notices, reports, or enforcement documents.
• Maintain CivicGov records for properties, licenses, and cases.
• Track licensing/registration deadlines and communicate with stakeholders.
• Coordinate mobile home park licensing and inspections.
• Perform seasonal weed control inspections and enforcement.
• Collaborate with City Attorneys, Police, Fire, Planning, and Finance departments.
• Apply City codes and procedures; respond to inquiries and complaints.
