About The Role
Transport and operate Vac Truck to excavate holes for distribution power line poles.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport the vac truck from site to site
- Operate vac truck to safely excavate holes for pole installation.
- Assist crew in getting poles to depth safely and efficiently.
- Transport trucks, equipment, and material in the safest, and most efficient way possible.
- Operate the required piece of equipment to complete the task at hand and do it in the safest manner possible
- Comply with all FMCSA/DOT and in-house rules, regulations, and policies.
- Perform daily pre-trip inspections, document deficiencies, and ensure repairs are made in a timely manner to reduce down-time.
- Complete a driver log as required.
- Responsible for basic vehicle/equipment maintenance; observe and report equipment or mechanical issues immediately.
- Maintain assigned truck and equipment in a clean and orderly manner.
- Comfortable using GPS equipment.
- Compliance with all road and transport rules.
- Ability to drive safely, irrespective of the weather or time of day.
- Function as a member of the Distribution power services team to ensure the overall needs of the department are met through completion of requested tasks.
- Find ways to conserve resources such as fuel, to benefit the company.
- Operate, drive, load, and transport a wide variety of equipment, vehicles, and materials.
- Locate and read location and road maps; manage routes and routines to produce the most efficient results possible for the business.
- Pick up equipment and materials, verify loads for accuracy, and deliver them as instructed.
- Load and unload cargo, materials, and equipment.
- Complete and verify paperwork for accuracy.

Key Qualifications
- At least six (6) months of Over-the-road commercial trucking experience.
- Competent experience and knowledge in the operation of CMV.
- Three years (3) of experience and knowledge in the operation of a Vac truck.
- CDL and Tanker endorsement.
- Highschool diploma or GED
- Certified from an accredited CDL school.
- Must be self-motivated, team oriented with a passion to help when needed and willing to adhere to the quality and safety standards of UU’s & Utility Power Services.
- Expert knowledge of all DOT (FMCSA) Regulations
- Moderate knowledge of OSHA safety regulations
- Moderate knowledge of environmental regulations
- Able to pass random drug tests.
- No DUI/DWI convictions in the past seven years
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
- Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- General/beginner experience with Microsoft Office - Outlook. Beginner experience with database programs.
- Basic knowledge and experience in operating a wide variety of equipment such as Tractors, Trailers, Aerial Devices, Pressure Digger, Digger Derricks, Trenchers, Crane Trucks, Skid Steers, Mini Excavators, Wire pulling and Tension Trucks, Light Duty Vehicles and any other company owned equipment.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - Valid Class A without transmission restrictions, and age qualification to drive interstate (minimum age 21), and tanker endorsement.
- MCSA-5876 DOT Medical Card - Valid
- FMSA - Clearinghouse - Not Prohibited Driver status.
- Work Authorization /Security Clearance (if applicable)

MISCELLANEOUS:
- Position Type: Full-time (40+ hours)
- Physical Work Location: Pinellas County, FL (Clearwater/St Pete area)
- Core work schedule expectations: Monday thru Friday, 7AM - 5PM
- Non-Core Work Schedule Expectations: This position frequently requires long hours and weekend work. Must be willing to travel for storm recovery, length of stay will depend on volume of work.
- Time Zone: Eastern
- Travel Expectations : Road warrior. Travel is to be expected in this position. Out of area and overnight travel will be dictated by the location of the job.
